A Different Ryhthm
Moving from Atlanta to the farm has been one of the biggest shifts in pace and perspective I’ve experienced.
Atlanta was vibrant, stimulating, and full of life. Some of my greatest friendships were made there, and there are things about the city that I genuinely miss - the epic rain and thunderstorms, the energy, the incredible food, and the feeling that something interesting was always happening.
Life on the farm is a completely different pace.
I wake up with the sun, walk outside with my cup of coffee, listen to the birds, and watch the mama deer and her fawn walk through the back corner of the property. There is something about beginning the day this way that feels almost too good to be true.
Before we moved here, people would ask if we knew what we were getting ourselves into.
The truth is, we didn’t fully know what to expect. We could plan and plan—and we did! But there is only so much you can understand about a life until you actually begin living it.
What we did know was that something had to change.
One of the most unexpected parts of this transition has been realizing that we aren’t simply changing where we live. We are changing the rhythm of how we live.
We’re still learning. We’re still building. We’re still figuring out what this life is going to look like.
But every morning, when I walk outside with my coffee and hear the birds, see the deer moving through the property, and watch the land begin another day, I am reminded that we made the right decision.
For the first time in a long time, I don’t feel like I’m rushing toward my life.
